Terms of Service

These are the simple rules for using LegacyStorys. By creating an account, you agree to them.

Who runs LegacyStorys

Your account

You must be 18 or older to use LegacyStorys. Keep your login private. Use an email address you can access so you can confirm your account and reset your password if needed.

Your stories belong to you

You keep ownership of your stories and the material you upload. You give us permission only to store and process it, show it to people you choose, and let you download it. Only record or upload material you have permission to use.

Plans and payment

Trial: 3 voice or written answers, free reading and downloads, and helper mode. Paid: everything in Trial, plus unlimited answers, video answers, photos and attachments, and family sharing with notes and reactions. Monthly, Annual and redeemed Gift plans have the same paid features. Annual: $249 for 12 months. Monthly: $25 for 1 month. A 12-month gift costs $249. Prices are in US dollars. After paid access ends, you can still read and download your saved stories for free. Family links pause immediately and work again when you renew or redeem a gift; links, notes and reactions are never deleted.

Purchases are one-time payments and do not renew automatically. Paid access lasts for the period you buy. If you buy another period before your current paid time ends, the new time starts after the time you already have. Paid time stacks, so you do not lose the time left on your plan. Family sharing

Family links are private web addresses, not individual logins. Anyone holding a link can open it while the account that shared it has an active paid plan. Only stories and memories marked Family only appear there. More memories are private unless you mark them Family only. Visitors can leave notes and reactions on stories, but cannot change your stories or memories. You can turn a link off at any time. Links pause immediately when paid access ends and return when you buy more time or redeem a gift, unless you turned them off. Pausing a link does not delete links, comments, reactions or stories. Deleting a story removes the notes and reactions attached to that story. Turning a link off cannot take back a copy someone already saved.

Recordings of other people

Ask permission before recording someone else. In helper mode, you confirm that the storyteller agreed to be recorded and to have their stories kept in the account.

Written-out words

A computer writes out recordings and may suggest a follow-up question. It may make mistakes or miss words. Please review the written-out words and correct them before sharing your story.

Gifts

A gift gives one person 12 months of paid access. Their year starts when they redeem it, or after any paid time they already have. Buying a gift does not give paid access to the buyer. Gifts are not refundable under our refund policy.

Refunds

Payments are not refundable. That includes annual plans, monthly plans and gifts. If we make a mistake, such as charging you twice, email us and we’ll put it right. See our Refund Policy.

Please be kind

Do not use LegacyStorys for unlawful material, threats, harassment, fraud or anything you do not have the right to share. Do not try to enter someone else's account, expose their private information or damage the service.

If a storyteller passes away

Stories stay in the account. The account owner can still read and download everything. Contact san_ai_ventures_llc@yahoo.com for help. [CONFIRM HOW REQUESTS FROM FAMILY OR AN ESTATE WILL BE HANDLED; ACCESS IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY TRANSFERRED.]

Ending an account

You can delete your account any time. Download a copy first if you want to keep your stories. We may close accounts that break these rules, with notice when possible. [CONFIRM NOTICE, APPEAL AND ANY REFUND PROCESS FOR ACCOUNTS WE CLOSE.]

Limits

The service is provided as is, to the extent the law allows. We cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Our total responsibility is limited to what you paid in the last 12 months. [CONFIRM WITH LAWYER.] These limits do not remove rights that the law does not allow us to limit.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will show the date of the latest version on this page. [CONFIRM HOW USERS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF IMPORTANT CHANGES AND WHEN THOSE CHANGES TAKE EFFECT.]

Michigan law applies

Michigan law applies to these terms, except where the law requires otherwise. [CONFIRM WITH LAWYER.]
