Your stories stay yours

What we collect

We keep your email address, name and account details. If you give them, we also keep your birth year, birthplace and what your family calls you. We keep the answers, recordings, photos, videos, attachments and written words you add, including family names and other details you include in a story. We also keep payment status, gift and sharing details, family notes and reactions, and any feedback you send.

Stories start private. Family links show only stories and memories marked Family only, and only while the account that shared them has active paid access. Anyone holding a working link can open it. More memories are private unless you mark them Family only. If you choose to share with an organization, its authorized administrator can see the stories you share.

Who helps us run LegacyStorys

• A payment provider handles checkout. It receives your payment details and the account or gift details needed to process the purchase. LegacyStorys receives payment status and purchase records.
• Hosting and database providers keep the app running and store account information, stories, uploaded files and sharing details. [CONFIRM PROVIDER NAMES AND WHAT TECHNICAL LOGS THEY KEEP.]
• An AI service writes out recordings and suggests a follow-up question. It receives the recording or recording pieces needed to write out the words, and the question and written-out answer needed to suggest a follow-up. How long we keep things

Your saved stories stay in your account until you delete them or delete your account. Ending paid access does not delete your stories. [CONFIRM RETENTION FOR INACTIVE ACCOUNTS.]

Deleting an account removes its stories and files from the app. [CONFIRM HOW LONG BACKUPS, TECHNICAL LOGS AND PAYMENT RECORDS REMAIN, AND ANY RECORDS THE LAW REQUIRES US TO KEEP.] Copies someone already downloaded are not removed when you delete a story or turn off a family link.

Your choices

You can read and download saved stories without a paid plan. My File offers a complete file with recordings or a lightweight file without recordings. Some large or linked items may need to be saved separately. Check that your copy contains what you want to keep before deleting anything.

You can also request the account-data download below. It includes selected account records and temporary links to stored media, rather than every media file inside the download. Save those files separately before their links expire. You can delete your account below; a confirmation is required.

Children

LegacyStorys is for adults 18 and older. Family stories may mention children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us for help.

What we store in your browser

Your browser remembers your login and text-size setting. It may also temporarily remember an unfinished plan purchase, gift redemption or organization invitation so you can continue after signing in.
